Tahini Sauce

Tahini sauce is a vegan, middle eastern condiment made of tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice, and some optional spices. It is super quick and easy to make, and it is a delicious accompaniment to falafel, shawarma, roasted vegetables, salad, or as dip.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 1 cup of tahini sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup tahini paste

  • Zest and juice of one large lemon (about 1/4 cup of lemon juice)

  • 1/4 cup cold water

  • 2-3 cloves garlic

  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1/8 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/8 tsp sumac

Directions:

  1. Combine tahini, lemon juice, and water in a bowl and mix well until you have a smooth sauce.

  2. Add finely minced garlic, lemon zest, salt, cumin, and sumac.

  3. Stir again, so that all ingredients are incorporated.

  4. Serve immediately or refrigerate.

  5. Enjoy!
